A bit about us:Jobot Consulting is partnering with a leading international energy company to place a seasoned finance consultant who will lead the internal reporting function during a maternity leave coverage period. Based out of the Galleria area in Houston, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to work at the center of a sophisticated finance operation in a well-capitalized organization.
You will own the end-to-end internal reporting process — from data gathering and consolidation through to executive-ready deliverables — and serve as the primary point of contact for finance leadership during the engagement. This is not a supporting role; you will lead the function independently.

Job DetailsWhat you'll do
- Manage and produce recurring management reporting packages, including monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports for senior leadership
- Oversee variance analysis — actuals vs. budget vs. forecast — and present clear, actionable commentary to stakeholders
- Coordinate with FP&A, accounting, and operations teams to gather data and ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and enhance existing reporting models and dashboards; identify process improvement opportunities
- Support month-end close activities and ensure internal controls around reporting are followed
- Serve as the primary liaison between finance leadership and reporting stakeholders during the engagement
- Document processes and ensure a smooth knowledge transfer at the conclusion of the engagement
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, FP&A, or management reporting — ideally within the energy, oil & gas, or commodities sector
- Proven ability to independently own and manage a reporting function with minimal onboarding time
- Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced modeling); experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and BI/reporting tools
- Exceptional communication skills — comfortable presenting financial data to executive audiences
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Prior consulting or interim finance experience is a strong plus
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation preferred but not required
